Real love

It was approximately 8:30 a.m., when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s arrived to have stitches remove from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 a.m. while taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. The gentleman told me that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she was a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease and that she had not recognized him in five years now. I asked him, “Do you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?” He smiled as he said, “She doesn’t know me, but I still know her.”

Wow power

Last spring, I was walking in a park. A short distance ahead of me, were a mom and her three-years-old daughter. The little girl was holding onto string that was attached to a helium balloon.

 Suddenly, a strong wind took the balloon from the little girl. I guessed she would scream and crying. But the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she said, “wow!”

 I didn’t realize it at that moment, but that she taught me something. Later that day, I received a phone call from my friend who had unexpected problem. I felt like answer, “Oh, what should I do?” but, remembering that little girl, I said “Wow, that’s interesting. How can I help you?”

 One thing is sure that life is always unexpected problems. But we can choose to be frustrated or fascinated. No matter what the situation, a interesting reaction will always beat a frustrated ‘Oh, no’. So the next time we experience life’s unexpected situation, remember that little girl and make it a ‘Wow!’. The incantation always works.

Mistake is your wonderful teacher.

You should not be afraid to mistake. Mistakes are a sign of life to the fullest. However many people are fearful of taking action in their lives. Because they fear it will be a mistake. The most successful people in the world have failed over again until they achieved their dream. Tomas Edison reportedly tried over 1,000 times to make the light bulb. When he was told that he had made 1,000 mistakes, he replied that “I never failed. I just discovered 1,000 ways not to make a light bulb.”

 As always, we cannot avoid mistakes in life. Therefore, if you want to success in your life, you must make mistakes and do not afraid your actions. You will have the opportunity to look for another, better things.

Bill Jones is a country storekeeper down in Louisiana, and last spring he went to New Orleans to purchase a stock of goods.

The goods were shipped immediately and reached home before ge did. When the boxes of goods were delivered at his store by the delivery man, his wife happened to look at the largest one. She uttered a loud cry and called for a hammer. A neighbor, hearing the screams, rushed to her assistance and asked what was the matter. One day, a wanderer happens to reach a neat looking farmhouse. He goes up to the front door and knocks on it. When the farm owner answers, the wanderer asks him, “Please, sir. I haven’t had a good meal in several days. Could you give me something to eat?” The owner says, “I have made a lot of money in my lifetime by supplying goods for people. I’ve never give anything for free. If you go to the back, you will see a gallon of paint and a paintbrush. If you paint my porch at the back of the house, I will give you a good meal.”

 So the wanderer goes the back and a while later he again knocks on the door. The owner says, “Already finish? Ok. Come on in and sit down. Cook will bring your meal right in.” “Thank you, sir” the wanderer says, “But there’s something that I think you should know. It is not a Porche you got there. It is a BMW.”

Tip for good night's sleep.

If you have difficulty in sleeping at night, here is some good advice for you to have a good sleep.

1.   Avoid caffeine four to six hours before bedtime. Caffeine is in coffee, soda, iced tea, chocolate, and various medications.

2.   Research has shown that a heavy meal too close to bedtime interferes with sleep, but a light snack may help you feel sleep. For example, milk proved to help good nighttime.

3.   Try to get some exercise. Some studies have shown that exercise right before bed is not as bad as everyone might think.

The bartender says, "I don't get it. Why in the world are you toasting 45 days?"

Sapporo snow festival!

I intend to travel overseas when I have winter vacation. It is my second overseas trip. The nation is Japan. I like snow and ice, so I will definitely enjoy the week – long Snow Festival held every winter in Sapporo, Japan. There are three venues for the festival, and each offers a distinct experience. The Odori site is where I can observe 12 teams from different countries to make their masterpieces for the snow sculpture contest. At the Tsudome(Sapporo Community Dome) location, I can find my way out if an ice maze or slide down a huge slide made of snow and ice. Finally, the Susukino site is where the opening and closing ceremonies and the ice sculpture contest take place. If I am lucky enough, I can take a photo with the Ice Queen, the winner of the festival’s beauty pageant.

 Although the festival attracts two million people annually, this festival actually had very humble beginnings. In 1950, a few high school girls built a few ice statues in Odori Park. A few years later, the Self – Defense Force joined in by building an enormous ice sculpture, and the rest is history. I had a question that is where all the snow and ice comes from. My friend said, “It is transported and brought in from around Sapporo area. The amount of snow is equal about 6,500 five-ton trucks.” So I will not let all that snow go to waste. I will not care about the cold weather. I really want go winter festival!

             Not long ago, a video clip that was released on the Internet became a hot topic among many people. It showed an elementary school teacher, that was punishing a young low grade student. What a made people upset about it? When people saw the teacher slap the student on the cheek and even throw books at him, they got really mad. Some parents said, “ I can not believe it. How can I leave my children at school?” After that incident, the teacher was dismissed.

 Although corporal punishment has been used as an educational means, the necessity of corporal punishment has been discussed over the last decade. According to a survey conducted, more than seventy percent of Korean students get physically punished by their teachers. My most of teachers punished cane or they often ordered a hard pose long time. A lot of people insist that corporal punishment be banned. In contrast, supporters of corporal punishment stress the importance of the punishment, emphasizing its educational effect. Currently, opinion surrounding this issue are divided, but a majority of people agree that violence cannot be justified under any circumstances. And I think that punishing young students ruthlessly is never occurred any schools. But lately, law was changed that any punishment of teacher is banned. If teacher do physical punishment students, teacher will be taken disciplined. These laws apply not only elementary schools but also middle schools and high schools. So now, people said that right of teachers will be collapsed. I can’t easily judge that what is right or wrong.

JjimJil

             I went to Surimountain - land that is JJimjilbang with my mother. We often visit a public bath for recover fatigue. I do not like bath when I was young but I like bath and hot room now. Because convenience of Surimountain – land is very good and there’s space so wide. If I go to on weekdays, I enjoy all conveniences as my mind. But if I go to weekend or holiday, I suffer from crowded people. I never like it so I should go Monday to Friday. In addition, it offers yoga lesson in free on weekday at 2:00 ~ 3:00. I think that it is very useful and good idea for guest.

 Surimountain – land’s bathhouse has open – air bath that located semi – upstairs but it is not exposed to outside. Because it has all screened windows. The open – air bath is generally not exists other public bath. This is one of the reasons why I love. Whenever I ease into a hat bath, I can feel that body is hot but head is so cool. This feeling is different to other bath.

 Cafeteria is also nice. The price is reasonable and taste is not so bad. I like Bibimbab and my mother likes seaweed soup. We enjoyed the menu and go to the jjimjil rooms. These rooms are various. Jjimjilrooms’s average temperature is 60~70℃. At first, I did not understand why people go to the hot rooms intentionally. When summer’s temperature is 30℃, people cry out “I can not endure this heat. It likes oven weather!”. But I can understand little why people find Jjimjilrooms. After I sweated, I can relieve stress.

 This Jjimjilroom convenience is very good so I will come to Surimountain – land over and over.

yoga 파이야

             Yoga has static motion and hard motion so that we can easily grow our energy of mind and body.

First, prepare yoga-mat, mirror to reflect your position and speaker. Then you have to sit your legs crossed down on mat. Now start meditating that means breathing smoothly and slowly and closing your eyes listening a calm music about 5 minutes. After meditation, warm up your body by stercthing your all stiff muscles. Next, stand up from your seat to start real yoga. At this time, it is better to turn on the active rhythm than meditation. Then, steadily play high-level motions that help grow muscular strngth and flexibility. If you over do your motion, you may feel so you must breathe regulary.

 Although you hate all exercises, you will love yoga’s diverse attrations.

Poor baby

While we do not recognize, there is many kinds of Child-neglect occurs everywhere. Child-neglect is divided into about 3 types.

 First, there is Physical-neglect that the parents do not offer meals or clothes like daily goods to their children. Childeren can not take care of themselves so they are easily exposed to malnourishment or danger. Second, there is Educational-neglect that means children do not receive necessity education. These children don’t go to school or they can’t speak even though they are seven years old. Third, ther is Emotional negligence. In this case, most parents do not know that they are commting negligence. The bond of childeren and parent is absent so children have a lack of affection. It causese harmful effects like emotional disturbance. Childeren-neglect can left scars on mind and soul of children.

Hobby farms

             Hobby-farm of my family dosen’t give stress about city life but offer pleasure of harvest and energy.

We have went hobby-farm to raise some vegetables every weekend. This field consist of so many other’s partial and small farms so there are divided by low fence to distinct other’s farm. Our farm just about 100㎡ so that we cultivate some vegetables like lettuce,onion, chives and etc. These crop good for body because we don’t spray agricultural pesticide. Some crop be eaten by worm but I think that reason of worm-eaten vegetables is good taste of our produce.

 This activity that different to city’s daily life encourage fresh energy to me. When I harvest crop, I don’t care about my task like study, assignment and I forget the smoky air of city. This idyllic and rewarding expereince will be energizer for everyone.

Winter is coming.

I hate winter becasuse of a cold weather!
The weather has been extremely cold since the beginning of this month.
I have to wear very thick however I feel still cold wind.
Nowadays weathere is more and more chilly.
It is cold enough to shrivel one up.
My university class room dosen't warm. I can not understand that inner space as cold as the outside.
My foots and hande become ice in rooms. It is terrible.
Only warm space exists in computer rooms of university.
So many computers release heat natually but there are not heater.
I don't like cold so I want to turn on the heater in university.Please.

English is hard subject

After the miterm, I visited profesoor's office to check my grade.

The result was so terrible and horroble.

I thought I studied hard but result said 'You did not.'

Maybe.. I fail to this subect.

It was horroble!!

Now 550 points remains.

I will study hard more....

Journal 7 창덕궁

             Few days ago, I went to Chandukgoong(창덕궁) with my friend. We have empty hours about 6 hours until next lecture that day. So we decided to go to a kind of picnic. I have had no experience going to Chandukgoong so my mind grew restless.

 There was crowded because of so many sightseers of foreigners; Americans, Chinese, Japanese. This place just likes a foreign country. We maybe look like stranger of other country I thought. Anyway, we paid an entrance fee 3,000 won, we entered very big front gate of palace. (It seems like so expensive fee other than national sightseeing places.)

 The inner place was so wide and gorgeous. I felt that I visited other world. It was a kind of past world. The broad brick road, large tiles on a roof and showy patterns boasted their magnificence appearances. If I wear tradition clothes, I feel past person of ancient times. . Palace was big so it seems like maze but It have antique charm. King, queen and people of palace living place was very nice. Common palace people’s room was little but cozy. There place was really good arrangement. This arrangement gave me a hope that live Korean style house (Hanok). When I get a house, I want to live Hanok.

  After we finished looking around, we were so tired. But this opportunity of picturesque sightseeing made a new enjoying and learning. Later, I want to visit all palaces in Korean. It will be a good experience to me.

            Team homework steals my all of energy. Infact, my major professor gave team homework after major exams. So, I felt that I carried burden on my back. Midterm exam mostly finished, but I do not belong this term. What is worse, our team members have not friendly relation during this semester. It made more difficult homework.

 First, we confronted with a problem of dividing allotment. Everyone hated presentation, so we decided that present person need not join any activity. Presenter’s task is just reading some of papers at the last. My part was making presentation program by using Power Point. But I also helped collecting data for presentation. Collector had exam until Wednesday, our present day is Monday. It means that our prepare term is only 3 days except present people. So, collector did not gather much data, I supported this work. This duty irritated me very much. My duty was only making programs!

 Anyway, three members of the five were left to gather data until 5:30 on Friday. Lesson already finished at 11:30 but we remained school. We really tired, exhausted and irritated. Nevertheless, making presentation did not complete that day. We continued discussion about our task on the internet messenger.

 Finally, we completed presentation on Sunday. Until that day, we got in touch with each other. Someone worked Saturday night at am 3:00. But my case, I got up early on Sunday and I write present script. Come to think of it, I worked writhing script. The more I think, It was terrible team homework in my life.

             I have volunteered at Jungreng welfare center at Sungbukgu. My major is Social welfare so I should volunteer at least one. I selected a mentoring program that I teach children and be friend. This program offers a one and one activity to help elementary school students. Mentoring inspires and motivates children to achieve and excel so I am proud of becoming volunteer of this.

 Our program members are ten and one teacher. Teacher gives a feedback our mentoring journal every weekend. I meet my mentor once one a week and I upload my journal to Internet café. Then teacher comment our activity. This program made me who have various experienced person.

 My mentee has a little brother so I visit with other my friend who takes little brother. My mentee’s name is Youmin and she 13 years old. We visit Youmin’s home and study or play with her and her brother.  We mainly teach them their homework. Usually, Youmin study herself her weaken parts and then she give me questions. I am proud of her zeal of study. Actually, she takes good grades most tests. On the average, the grades are beyond 90 points. She is a clever so I feel very comfortable at mentoring program. Other mentors who my friends said, they feel terribly hard and tough their mentee’s distracted behavior.

 Anyway, I like my volunteer and I think this program that helping low-income family is instructive. It also useful to me because It offer to me exploration of jobs.

How to get from food the cafeteria.

             First, you should choice between two of the cafeteria in school. If you like flour base food, you go to cafeteria in the Nanhyanggwan.

But if you want Korean dishes you select cafeteria below the Unjunggwan.

Then you enter the cafeteria you want, choice the menu. The most prices of menus are 2,500 won. Pay the price before, you must exchange for coupon. You don’t take the meal before you give the coupon to dinner lady.

After that, you wait the line for taking meal and receive your share.

Next, find your seat and ear meals with enjoy. Finally put the empty plate back place of the washing dishes.   

Journal 4

             A few days ago, I started to have interesting about Korean language department. In fact, I liked language (linguistic) lessons since middle school student. I usually took good points most tests. In addition, I achieved best rank in the college scholastic ability test. Although, I did not entered department that I like but I entered department of social welfare. Because the linguistic does not have popularity to most company or corporation. Company generally likes the department of business administration. Therefore kind of human studies have narrow job entrance. I disappointed this reality, so I selected social welfare that job range is wider than linguistic.

However, I thought ‘Is this what I want? ’ I could not answer rapidly this question. Social welfare is excellent job but is excellent to me also? That is probably not to me.  So if I get a chance I want to have admission other university and learn I want. Because Sungshin does not have the linguistic. If I graduate the linguistic I will teach Korean language to foreigner or illiterate. It will be interesting to teach. Teaching foreigner will be more interest.

There are many people want to learn Korean language in France. They wait line for a long time to book a class. Korean language academy are always crowded these people. If I preserve in my efforts, I may get the teaching gob. I guess teaching job give me proud and satisfaction more than volunteer activity. To achieve my hope I should work my all things.   

homework(not journal)

             I got a small puppy when I was twelve years old. My father brought her for my long-cherished wish. At first, I surprised so much. I had never imagined that father gave me a dog, so my brother and I jumped for joy.

 She had stood ears, slightly long mouth, white forepaws. So, she’s paw similar to wear white rain boots. What a lovely little puppy! I patted her all day and felt happy that I didn’t know what to do.

Besides, the puppy was a mixed breed but she was very clever and smart. She understood my order, ‘Sit down, come on, give me a hand, get a meal.’  Whenever she followed my command, my heart was filled with pride and pleasure.

However she does not exist now. She was sent to my country because of my mother’s dog allergy. I could not speak my grief that time. What’s worse is that she disappeared from county home! Now, I can see my dog never. I have felt sad only.

Today, Sungshin Domestic Science College’s Festival was held in our campus. The festival is held year after year on October and college’s festival is one of the schools traditional events. I did not have classes today, but I went festival. Because I also belong to the Domestic Science College. 

First, hip hop dance groups inaugurated the festivals with a powerful dance. They were worked up the crowd before the real festival. There’s a real carnival atmosphere in the lawn front Sujung building. We could feel a festive mood. Next turn was our department’s dance! Strictly speaking, the dance is not a dance, but a cheerleading. I was looking forward this time. They were my friends 10’. The rooters of our department students cheered our team with shouting. Even though they were amateur, they were fantastic and wonderful. I was proud of my friend on stage. Our team stands apart from the other team. Other teams were just usual dance. Cheerleading performance was only one. Moreover, they made human pyramids. This motion was the best of best.

After that, the group singer that was invited came on stage. The crowd went crazy when the group appeared. I also ran to the stage. The groups name was ‘4 men’. This singers not idol, but they have remarkable singing skills. I thought they are judged by their vocal talents. (Frankly, They did not have good looks like other singers.) Anyway, I amused that times. This festival is my best recreation for a long time.  

Journal 2

             I met my high school friends. They are my club friends. I joined librarian activity club. We really close to them but we had not seen for half a year. So I eagerly look forward to meeting with my friends. On the other hand, I worried about what to wear.

 Anyway, we made an appointment at 8’o clock in Anyang’s the First Avenue. We must meet late hour on account of some have evening class. ( Luckily, I do not have any lessons that day.) 

 First, we ate supper. The menu was a spicy chicken galbi. We talked ourselves hoarse, catching up on all the news. I had a nice pleasant chat with friends I haven't seen for a while. The time I spend with friends is the most happy.  The main topic was boyfriend. Because, almost have a boyfriend. But they have a common that they went to coeducation university! Therefore I do not have romantic relationship. We went to women high school, now we went to different school. This reality gave me feelings sad, futility, envy and annoyance. However, they are enough pretty and they have a good character. These friends still must be good friends for me.

 We have been talking a longtime, already time was 10:30. I had lost track of the time talking with my close friends. When we time together come to an end, we told each other how sorry they were to part. I thought ‘Will we ever have a chance to sit down together and talk again?’ I want to meet them after.

20101495 S52 Journal

             Yesterday, I had a one liberal art. It is supplementary lessons. But that day was Saturday! Who was made a Saturday class? That class is first class so I more and more felt sorrow on my life. I barely raised myself out of the bed at 6’o clock for only one of class. I lay down on the bed. And I seriously agonized whether go to school during twenty minutes. Even though I tired on Saturday morning, I decided to go to school by willpower. This power is a kind of resistance. Anyway, I went out at 7:30 in the morning. Subway had not relatively many people Thank to time and day.

 There were many empty seats in the lecture room. Students who live nearby school must be came this lecture. Only half students attended lecture among 7~80 students. In fact, I don’t know that why I came for this just 75 minutes. So I devised plan of meaningful time. I thought that I would rather go to the movies than go home. First, do not return to home straight instead wait movie’s start time. Second, go to the CGV with my friend. Third, spend well the holiday. By doing this, I think that I will be get comfort.

 The lecture ended 10:15, but I waited computer room until 12:00. Then I went to a movie with a friend of mine. Movies title is <The Borrower> what I want see. Eventually, On account of the movie, I did have a great Saturday.
